April 2025 Project(s) of The Month: Recap Round-Up
It’s been a while since we updated you on our projects—let’s look back and recap a few!
Chihuly Bridge of Glass - Bridging Art and Light
You’ve probably heard of the Museum of Glass, but did you know about the Chihuly Bridge of Glass? This 500-ft bridge connects the museum to the Foss Waterway and is open 24/7—making it a perfect spot for a stroll and a photo op in Tacoma.
Western Neon was chosen to replace the 30 existing fiber optic light source units with a new model, as well as upgrade bay panels and hardware. We took special care to protect the glass and ensure the safety of passersby throughout the project. To guarantee quality, we conducted on-site testing with two models during phase one. We also fabricated new panels, color-matched and painted them, and redesigned the venting layout. The project was completed in three phases to safeguard the glass, allow for adjustments, and test the bay panel system for a full month to meet performance requirements.

Bacco Cafe – A Seattle Staple Since 1992
Located in historic Pike Place Market, Bacco Cafe has been serving breakfast and brunch for decades. Known for its Belgian waffles and crab benedict, the café offers outdoor seating that complements the market’s cozy, classic Seattle vibe.
As a long-time favorite, Bacco was due for fresh signage. Fun fact: Pike Place Market’s historical guidelines require signage to be either handcrafted neon or non-illuminated. Staying true to this aesthetic, we designed and fabricated a 7’x1.5’ aluminum cabinet sign, painted satin black, featuring 10mm white exposed hand-bent neon bordered with white hand paint. To ensure longevity, we added a clear acrylic panel to protect the glass.
We also replaced their non-illuminated canopy blade sign with a simpler design that highlights Bacco’s founding year. This 2’x2’ circular sign is made of stained black wood with visible grain, featuring dimensional satin-white letters and white hand painted accents—a beautiful blend of modern and classic.

The Spoke – A Unique Urban Community in Redmond
Redmond is booming, and The Spoke is one of its most innovative new projects. These two apartment buildings are connected by an “Urban Forest” courtyard, complete with a fresh herb farm and public art installations. The community also features rooftop solar panels, a car-sharing partnership, and proximity to the soon-to-open Redmond Link Rail Station.
Western Neon created architectural art panels for their Gallery Court and Meander walkway. The installation consists of 18 steel panels across three sections (17’, 11.5’, and 8’ wide), all nearly 14’ tall. Each 1/8” steel panel is intricately cut to create open spaces and finished with a powder-coated texture that mimics natural elements. The result? A visually stunning, nature-inspired piece that aligns with The Spoke’s eco-conscious mission.

Cardoon – A Creative Café with Global Inspiration
Previously known for its presence inside Ballard’s National Nordic Museum, Cardoon has now opened just down the street. With a menu inspired by Chinese and German roots, Cardoon fuels creativity—and we wanted their signage to reflect that spirit.
We crafted a 7’x1.5’ wall sign featuring internally illuminated aluminum channel letters that are 2.5” deep. A halo-lit glow behind the satin-white letters creates a striking contrast against the brick wall. To enhance the effect, we color-matched the mounting attachments to blend seamlessly into the background. A clean, whimsical, and timeless design that perfectly suits Cardoon’s aesthetic.

Leolo – Handmade Shoes, Timeless Craftsmanship
Handcrafted businesses are meant to work together, and Leolo is a perfect example. Specializing in handmade shoes and leather goods, this Pike Place Market shop is owned by Leanne, a shoemaker who grew up thrifting and later began redesigning her finds. Originally opened in 2022, Leolo relocated to the Economy Atrium for space to offer workshops and classes.
Given Pike Place Market’s high foot traffic (pun intended!), Leolo needed standout signage. Western Neon created a 2’x4’ clear gold neon blade sign that glows beautifully beneath its logo on the famous gum wall. To enhance visibility from the street, we fabricated a 3.5’x3.5’ neon canopy sign, as well as a 1.5’x1.5’ non-illuminated canopy sign within pike place market. To tie the branding together and provide essential information to customers, we also applied opaque window vinyl displaying Leolo’s keywords and operating hours.
Inside, we installed a 4’x1’ non-illuminated wall panel featuring the word Atelier (meaning “artist’s workshop”), painted to match the full sign package. The storefront signage is an 8.5’x3’ neon sign with the logo mirrored on both sides, making it a striking focal point.

Mt. Joy – Raising the Bar for Fried Chicken
On a mission to redefine chicken standards, Mt. Joy is growing in Seattle! Committed to farm-fresh ingredients and sustainability, they’re bringing progress and flavor together. Western Neon was proud to craft custom signage for their second location in South Lake Union—just one year after their first.
Mt. Joy’s signage package includes a unique mounting design featuring two ¼” thick aluminum plates welded to bracket rails, all painted in their signature purple. The 11.5’x2.5’ “Mt. Joy” lettering is made from 2” deep fabricated aluminum channels painted red with a satin finish.
Additionally, we created a double-sided 4’x3.5’ kiosk panel sign to enhance brand visibility and a single-sided 1.5’x2.5’ message display, providing customers with key brand information in a clean, eye-catching format.

110 Roy – Luxury Living with Iconic Views
Opening in 2025, 110 Roy will bring luxury living to Lower Queen Anne, offering panoramic views of the city and Mount Rainier. With air conditioning, hardwood floors, and high-end kitchen finishes, this upscale residence is set within one of Seattle’s most iconic neighborhoods.
Western Neon contributed to this project with a custom signage package. Their 3.5’x20’ projecting sign features a 7” deep aluminum frame, painted red, with a hidden 2” gray gap behind 1.5” thick face panels painted satin white. The red frame is halo-lit with red illumination from recessed edge panels, creating a striking effect.
We also fabricated a 7.75’x2.5’ exterior canopy sign, made from 3” deep aluminum returns painted satin black with satin trim and a white translucent face, internally illuminated with white LEDs. To improve wayfinding, we designed and built LED-illuminated parking directional blade signage, ensuring clear visibility for residents and visitors.
